PCA Skin® Chemical Peels
What is it, and why do you want it?
Peels are a great way to improve clarity, tone and skin texture. Peels will enhance skin glow and radiance and restore a more youthful appearance. Visible improvement is possible after one treatment with optimal results after a series of six treatments in conjunction with a PCA Skin home care routine. The renewal process stimulates collagen production, lightens pigmentation, acne, and melasma.
We offer a wide range of peels from mild enzymatic peels, to Jessners, TCA and Retinol peels. We offer these in all different combination depending on your skin's needs. If you are new to peels, we will have a consult prior to your treatment to make sure you are receiving the perfect treatment tailored to YOU!
Possible light peeling is expected for the next 4-6 days as layers of dead skin cells are shedding, only to reveal beautiful, smooth skin. Most of our peels work at a cellular level, meaning very little peeling is actually visible on the skin's surface. We have found that most peeling starts on day 2 or 3 and will last for 3-4 days. You may also experience tightness and some mild sensitivity during this time.

The Follow Through
For acne prone skin, peels are recommended every 2 weeks. For pigment/melasma skin conditions, and for those treating fine lines and wrinkles we recommend we see you every 3 weeks for peels. For rosacea and routine skin maintenance, we recommend monthly treatments.
PCA Skin® 4% Pure Retinol Peel
What is it, and why do you want it?
A blend of 4% pure retinol and anti-oxidants, PCA Skin®’s first pure retinoid peel improves skin texture, brightens and evens skin tone and diminishes fine lines and wrinkles through accelerated cellular turnover.
What is retinol?
A first generation retinoid, retinol, also known as vitamin A1, is the gold standard ingredient in skin care. By increasing the turnover of surface cells, retinol improves the appearance of hyper-pigmentation, smooths and evens skin texture, reduces the size of pores and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The 4% Pure Retinol Peel is a very gentle treatment. Most clients will feel very little to no sensitivity during product application. This peel does not have the tingling (stinging) sensation of a traditional PCA Peel®. Rather, you may experience a soothing sensation.
Light to medium peeling is expected for the next 4-6 days as layers of dead skin cells are shedding, only to reveal beautiful, smooth skin. We have found that most peeling starts on day 2 or 3 and will last for 3-4 days. You will also experience tightness and some mild sensitivity during this time.
The Follow Through
You can help enhance the overall outcome of the treatment by committing to using only the Post Procedure Kit, provided with each treatment, for 3-5 days post-peel. The after care products in your Post Procedure Kit will help protect and soothe the skin post-treatment.
Do you want to know more?
Schedule a complimentary consultation and let’s figure out if a PCA Skin® Peel is the next logical step in your skin care plan.
You will be having a light peel treatment on the day of your appointment. Please follow the outline below to prepare.
Use of PCA SKIN® daily care products prior to your peel will prepare the skin, allow for better treatment results and reduce the risk of complications. This is recommended but not mandatory. Please consult your esthetician for appropriate recommendations for your skin type and condition.
Follow Up Care
Two days post-procedure:
Stay cool! Heating internally can cause hyperpigmentation.
Do not put the treated area directly into a hot shower spray.
Do not use hot tubs, steam rooms or saunas.
Do not go swimming.
Do not participate in activities that would cause excessive perspiration.
Do not use loofahs or other means of mechanical exfoliation.
Do not direct a hair dryer onto the treated area.
Do not apply ice or ice water to the treated area.
After receiving a PCA SKIN® professional treatment, you should not necessarily expect to 'peel'. However, light flaking in a few localized areas for several days is typical. Most patients who undergo these treatments have residual redness for approximately one to twelve hours post-procedure.
As with all peels and treatments, it is recommended that makeup not be applied the day of treatment, as it is ideal to allow the skin to stabilize and rest overnight; however, powder makeup may be applied 15 minutes after the treatment if desired.
To minimize side effects and maximize results use the Post-Procedure Products for three to five days or until flaking has resolved.
If the skin feels tight, apply ReBalance for normal skin types or Silkcoat® Balm for drier skin types to moisturize as needed. For maximum hydration, you can apply Hydrating Serum under ReBalance or Silkcoat® Balm. Lillian Sophia Pure Balm is also a great option.
Moisturizer should be applied at least twice a day but can be applied more frequently for hydration and to decrease the appearance of flaking.
It is recommended that other topical, over-the-counter medications oralpha hydroxy acid products not be applied to the skin seven days post procedure, as they may cause irritation.
It is recommended to delay use of tretinoin, Retin-A®, Differin®, Renova®, Tazorac®, Avage® EpiDuo™ or Ziana® five days post-procedure. Consult your physician before temporarily discontinuing use of any prescription medications.
Avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat. Use Weightless Protection SPF 45, Perfecting Protection SPF 30, Protecting Hydrator SPF 30 or Hydrator Plus SPF 30 for broad-spectrum UV protection. Remember, the sun is at it's strongest from 10am-3pm.
Do not go to a tanning bed for at least two weeks post-procedure. This practice should be discontinued due to the increased risk of skin cancer and signs of aging.
Do not pick or pull on any loosening or peeling skin. This could potentially cause hyperpigmentation.
Do not have electrolysis, facial waxing or use depilatories for approximately five days.
