Skincare Follow-Up

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR SKINCARE TREATMENTS FROM SPA TO YOUR HOME

Dermaplaning & Vibradermabrasion

Follow Up Care:

Days 1 and 2 post-procedure:

  • Follow-up tip: Stay cool! Heating internally can cause hyperpigmentation following your skincare appointment.

  • Follow-up tip: Do not put the treated area directly into a hot shower spray during follow-up care.

  • Follow-up tip: Do not use hot tubs, steam rooms or saunas.
  • Follow-up tip: Do not go swimming.
  • Follow-up tip: Do not participate in activities that would cause excessive perspiration.
  • Follow-up tip: Do not use loofahs or other means of mechanical exfoliation.
  • Follow-up tip: Do not direct a hair dryer onto the treated area.

Additional Information and Precautions:

After receiving a treatment, it is recommended that makeup not be applied that day.

  • If the skin feels tight, apply a mild, exfoliant-free, fragrance-free, dye-free moisturizer as part of your follow-up care.

  • Moisturizer should be applied at least twice a day but can be applied more frequently. Check with your esthetician regarding other skincare inquires during your follow-up care.

  • It is recommended that other topical, over-the-counter medications or alpha hydroxy acid skincare products not be applied to the skin seven days post procedure, as they may cause irritation.

  • It is recommended to delay use of tretinoin, Retin-A®, Differin®, Renova®, Tazorac®, Avage® EpiDuo™ or Ziana® three days post-procedure during follow-up care. Consult your physician before temporarily discontinuing use of any prescription medications.

  • Best follow-up care includes avoiding direct sun exposure and excessive heat

  • Reapply sunscreen EVERY TWO HOURS (which should be a regular practice not just as a skincare treatment follow-up)

  • Follow-up tip: Remember, the sun is at it's strongest from 10am-3pm

  • Follow-up tip: Wear a hat in addition to your SPF

  • Follow-up tip: Do not go to a tanning bed for at least two weeks post-procedure. This practice should be discontinued due to the increased risk of skin cancer and signs of aging.

  • Follow-up tip: Do not pick or pull on any loosening or peeling skin. This could potentially cause hyperpigmentation.

  • Follow-up tip: Do not have electrolysis, facial waxing or use depilatories for approximately five days.

Chemical Peels

Follow Up Care:

Days 1 and 2 post-procedure:

  • Follow-up tip: Stay cool! Heating internally can cause hyperpigmentation.

  • Follow-up tip: Do not put the treated area directly into a hot shower spray.

  • Follow-up tip: Do not apply ice or ice water to the treated area.

Additional Information and Precautions:

After receiving a peel treatment, you should not necessarily expect to 'peel'. However, light flaking in a few localized areas for several days is typical. Most patients who undergo these treatments have residual redness for approximately one to twelve hours post-procedure.

As with all peels and treatments, it is recommended that makeup not be applied the day of treatment, as it is ideal to allow the skin to stabilize and rest overnight; however, powder makeup may be applied 15 minutes after the treatment if desired.

  • Follow-up tip: If the skin feels tight, apply a mild, exfoliant-free, fragrance-free, dye-free moisturizer.

  • Follow-up tip: Moisturizer should be applied at least twice a day but can be applied more frequently for hydration and to decrease the appearance of flaking.

  • Follow-up tip: It is recommended that other topical, over-the-counter medications or alpha hydroxy acid products not be applied to the skin seven days post procedure, as they may cause irritation.

  • Follow-up tip: It is recommended to delay use of tretinoin, Retin-A®, Differin®, Renova®, Tazorac®, Avage® EpiDuo™ or Ziana® five days post-procedure. Consult your physician before temporarily discontinuing use of any prescription medications.

  • Follow-up tip: Avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat

  • Follow-up tip: Reapply sunscreen EVERY TWO HOURS

  • Follow-up tip: Do not go to a tanning bed for at least two weeks post-procedure. This practice should be discontinued due to the increased risk of skin cancer and signs of aging.

  • Follow-up tip: Do not have electrolysis, facial waxing or use depilatories for approximately five days.

How To Care For Your New Lips:

You will be given a tube of aftercare ointment for your lips- This is the ONLY product you may use.
Avoid hot, spicy, and salty foods as it may cause added irritation. Avoid submerging your face in water, direct sun exposure, teeth whitening, rubbing and smoking.

Do not pick or scratch the lips as it may lead to a loss of pigment and/or scarring. Do not use any types of cosmetics on your lips for the first 7 days.

Texture is normal and is often experienced in the first few days of healing. Signs and symptoms of infection include: Excessive redness, swelling, pus or severe itch.

Call the spa if this occurs. 802-735-3031. Always call your Physician if you are ever unsure about a reaction that seems abnormal.

What to expect over the next few weeks:

Lip color may change or fade from the desired result after the initial treatment. This is why a touch- up appointment is scheduled when your brows have healed at 6- 8 weeks. Additional touch ups may be necessary after 6 months- 1 year depending on your skin type, skin care routine, medications, and sun exposure.

Permanent Makeup Follow-Up (Brows)

Follow Up Care:

How To Care For Your New Brows

Day of the Procedure

  • Do not get your brows wet for 24 hours for best follow-up care. Avoid steam and water touching the brows for 14 days following.

  • Every 3 hours follow-up: gently dab your brows with cotton pad barely dampened with distilled water and apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment to brows. On days 2- 7, continue this regimen changing the frequency to 3 times a day. Only perform this regimen with CLEAN HANDS!!

  • Expect mild swelling, itching, light scabbing and bruising. This is a good sign that the skin is healing! Follow-up care includes: do not scrub, pick or rub the “crust” that forms. Allow “crust” to naturally flake from your brows. Picking can remove pigment.

*Brows will appear bolder and darker at first. The pigment used to tattoo takes about 7 days to absorb into the deeper layers of the skin. At 7- 10 days, the top layer of skin will peel and the brows will appear approximately 40% softer and lighter in color.*

Days 2- 14

  • Do not sleep on your face for the first 10 days, avoid rubbing healing or healed areas as part of PMU follow-up care.

  • Do not use any makeup on your brows for at least 14 days. You may resume your usual makeup and cleansing regimen after 14 days. Try to limit sweating to better retain pigment during follow-up care.

  • Follow-up care includes not exposing your brows to sun or tanning beds for at least 14 days. After your brows have healed, use sunblock regularly to protect pigment from fading.

  • Do not swim or soak for at least 14 days! During follow-up, apply Vaseline to your brows after they are healed to prevent chlorine or salt water from penetrating the pigmented area.

  • Do not use Retin- A (retinol) or glycolic acids on your brows during or after healing. Inquire about other skincare products during your appointment.
